Subject: Shotgun Shooting: Beware!
-- Posted by scribe

On the weekend of Friday the 13th, members of Troop 50 packed up to go to the Platte Falls Wildlife Area. We went on the campout with gun safety lessons under our belts and a slight fear of the mixture of guns and Scouts. On Friday night we got pelted with rain, however on Saturday the weather held out and we shot a good number of clay pigeons with 12 and 20 gage shotguns. While one scout kept score and other scouts haggled the shooter, we all gawked at the adults who were knocking them down like crazy. Then we headed back to the campsite and began to prepare our meals. The kids were jealous of the adult’s meal and lemonade, but after an easy KP duty we hit the tent for some serious card playing. The campsite was a breeze to clean up on Sunday morning, and with a little push from the adults to get out of our warm tents, we got back to Kansas City by 10:45

Subject: September Update
-- Posted by scribe

We had a pancake breakfast for the hurricane victims on Sept. 17. Other than the pancake breakfast, we are also learning how to do the first aid badge, and other merit badges. We also did presentations on Sept. 12 about swords that people brought in. We are now about to learn how to do CPR on Oct 8.

Subject: fall fellowship follow-up
-- Posted by OATR

fall fellowship was great, even though it rained. one of the things that cheered us up was the thought that while we were in the tipee playing cards and talking to some army reserves the rest of the troop was out in the rain passing out flyers. we saw a reenactment of teh first ever ordeal ceremony. sadly we didn't get to do the climbing tower because it was raining. we also attended the chapter elections to find out who our new chapter chief and vice chapter chief is. all in all the trip was great.
